Protect the line through the cold operating scenario.
The duty
Exposed instrument, process and utility lines can need heat input when the surrounding temperature falls below the fluid’s freezing point. Dekoron lists freeze-protection duties for selected electric-traced constructions and light steam-traced tubing. The appropriate arrangement depends on the fluid and the site utilities.
What changes the selection
Define the lowest site ambient, wind exposure, fluid freezing behaviour and required minimum temperature. Include small branches, exposed connections and the longest no-flow period. A warm process during normal production does not establish that the same line remains protected during a cold shutdown.
Prepare for the actual installation
Review heating availability, controls and the treatment of ends with the full route. Pre-insulated tubing can reduce heat loss, but it is not an active freeze-protection system on its own. PMA can review the proposed construction and the information needed for the manufacturer’s thermal assessment.
