Carry the specified temperature through the route.
The duty
A fluid may need to remain within a temperature window as it travels away from the process. Dekoron offers electric and steam-traced constructions for temperature maintenance. This is a different question from simply choosing tubing that can withstand the maximum inlet temperature.
Define the useful operating window
Supply the minimum, normal and maximum fluid temperatures, flow and required outlet condition. Include intermittent operation, start-up and cleaning. Where both excessive cooling and excessive heating would change the process fluid, the upper and lower limits should be considered together.
Match the available heat source
Electric tracing uses an integral heater; steam tracing uses a steam tracer alongside the process tube. Review the available supply, control requirements and route before selecting a family. For already-hot fluid transfer, pre-insulation may be relevant to reducing heat loss, but it does not add heat when the process stops.
