Keep the fluid properties in the specification.
Connect viscosity to temperature
For oils, greases, waxes and other temperature-sensitive fluids, provide viscosity data over the expected operating range. Identify any pour point, solidification or degradation limits relevant to the fluid. The useful maintained temperature comes from the process requirement, not a generic heater setting.
Describe the flow pattern
State the required flow, line length and available pressure difference. Include intermittent operation, stagnant periods and restart conditions. Temperature maintenance supports a specified fluid condition; it does not by itself establish that the line can deliver the required flow.
Review heating and sizing together
Dekoron publishes viscosity-maintenance duties for selected electric and steam-traced constructions. Review the heat source with the tube bore and route. Pre-insulation may reduce cooling during transfer, but a duty requiring continuing heat input needs an appropriate heated construction.
